The contemporary Indian diaspora has emerged as one of the most significant subjects in postcolonial literary studies. Among the foremost writers exploring diasporic identity are Bharati Mukherjee and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, whose novels examine migration, cultural negotiation, identity formation, and the complexities of belonging. This paper explores the concepts of hybridity and cultural transformation in selected novels of Bharati Mukherjee—Jasmine, Desirable Daughters, and The Tiger's Daughter—and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni—The Mistress of Spices, Sister of My Heart, and Oleander Girl. Drawing upon Homi K. Bhabha's theory of hybridity, Stuart Hall's concept of cultural identity, and postcolonial feminist perspectives, the study investigates how the protagonists negotiate multiple cultural spaces while reconstructing personal identities. The analysis demonstrates that hybridity is not merely the coexistence of two cultures but an evolving process of adaptation, resistance, and transformation. The paper concludes that both writers redefine immigrant identity as dynamic rather than fixed, presenting cultural transformation as a continuous negotiation between tradition and modernity
