Abstract

This study empirically examines the impact of government policy interventions on the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) request in India over the period 2015 – 2024. Using secondary time- series data on EV deals, subvention disbursements, charging structure expansion, and investment inrushes, the study employs trend analysis and relative policy evaluation to assess the effectiveness of crucial enterprise, including the Faster Relinquishment and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles( FAME I and II) scheme, product Linked incitement( PLI) schemes, and state- position EV programs. The findings reveal a statistically significant acceleration in EV relinquishment following the perpetration of FAME- II, with overall EV deals adding further than tenfold between FY2020 and FY2024, and particularly strong growth observed in the two- and three- wheeler parts. Farther, correlation analysis indicates a positive association between subvention intensity and EV penetration rates, while force- side impulses under PLI've contributed to increased domestic manufacturing capacity and reduced import reliance in battery factors. Structure expansion, measured through the growth in public charging stations, also shows a positive but regionally uneven impact on EV relinquishment. Still, the results suggest dwindling borderline goods of direct subventions over time, pressing the need for structural policy support beyond financial impulses. The study concludes that while government programs have been necessary in driving beforehand- stage request expansion, long- term sustainability of EV growth in India will depend on intertwined policy design encompassing structure development, technological advancement, and nonsupervisory adjustment across countries. These findings give substantiation- grounded perceptivity for policymakers aiming to optimize the effectiveness of EV- related interventions in arising husbandry.
