Walkable spaces are important in enhancing urban livability, promoting social interaction and for environmental sustainability. In dense, historical and commercial area like Rajwada, Indore the lack of pedestrian infrastructure, traffic congestion and compromise safety significantly determine the quality of public life and heritage characteristics of that area. Despite from recognizing importance of pedestrian-oriented design, limited research has been done specifically addressing challenges within such heritage urban core areas. The study aims in developing architectural and urban design solution for transforming Rajwada into pedestrian only zone that will help in preserving cultural significance while improving accessibility. Using qualitative methodology which includes field survey, walkability assessment and photographic documentation, the research analyses the existing special, functional and mobility conditions. This helps in revealing significant vehicle dominance and inadequate pathways while identifying opportunities for special organization through furniture, pedestal zoning and context sensitive interventions. The given framework helps in balancing heritage conservation with modern needs. Ultimately, the Design intervention aims to enhance the user experience and contribute to the sustainable environment and revitalization of Rajwada Indore.
