Study talks about the urban restoration of Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad. It has research about gentrification and its probable social impact in India's fast changing cities. It also talks about how social economical groups have access to urban space, how they work together on one social platform, and how community structures were affected by the waterfront revitalization. Even if the project has improved the city's image, public infrastructure, and environment, issues with affordability, displacement, and unequal access to benefits still exist. The study has tried to cover all the positive and negative inferences regarding this study.
This study is a qualitative methodological study and is based on secondary research sources, like case study-based analysis, academic literature studies, planning documents, and official reports.
My findings demonstrate how urban design interferences can restyle public point of view and urban identity of the city. Urban development in Indian cities has always carried two faces progress for some, displacement for others. The Sabarmati Riverfront project in Ahmedabad sits at this uncomfortable crossroads. This study traces how waterfront redevelopment reshapes social access, community bonds, and urban belonging acknowledging genuine infrastructure gains while refusing to overlook who paid the human cost of those gains.
