The shift from traditional on-premises IT infrastructure to cloud computing marks a major change in modern business strategy. It reshapes the rules of financial structure for companies. While the technical benefits of cloud environments, such as horizontal scalability, rapid elasticity, and high availability, are well-documented, the economic realities of this shift go far beyond just cutting IT costs. This research explores the complicated economic choices involved in managing assets and optimizing resources in both environments. It sees the transition not just as a tech upgrade but as a move from a rigid Capital Expenditure (CapEx) model to a more flexible Operational Expenditure (OpEx) framework.
