Wellness-linked health insurance models in India aim to promote preventive healthcare by integrating incentives such as cashback, premium discounts, and reward-based engagement into traditional insurance products. These models represent a shift from reactive healthcare financing to continuous customer engagement. This study examines the evolution and industry practices of wellness-linked health insurance in India using secondary data from regulatory reports, insurer disclosures, and industry publications. The analysis focuses on key features, implementation approaches, and their relevance in promoting preventive healthcare. The findings indicate that while insurers are actively incorporating wellness features, their effectiveness depends on simplicity, usability, and sustained customer participation. Variations in program structure and lack of standardization limit broader adoption. The study concludes that wellness-linked insurance has strong potential to enhance healthcare outcomes, provided it is supported by clear communication and user-friendly design.
