The spiritual and mystical aspects of 'Yatra Sangita'

This research paper explores the deeply embedded Spiritual and Mystical dimensions within ‘Yatra Sangita’ (The song of the eternal Journey), a seminal poem by the renowned Sabuja era poet Baikunthanath Patnaik. While Patnaik is structurally celebrated for his romantic sensibilities, this article uncovers how ‘Yatra Sangita’ transcends material consciousness to merge with the absolute divine. Drawing poetic and philosophical lineages from traditional Odia devotional literature like Bhakta Charan Das’s ‘Manabodha Chautisa’ and the universal mysticism of Rabindranath Tagore, this analysis demonstrates how human life is contextualized as a transient stay (Pravasa) and death as an ultimate celebration of union with Maha-Idam (the Supreme Entity). The paper presents a stylistic, highly literary reading of human vanity, existential suffering and final surrender to the eternal cosmic flute.
