The goal of this research is to see how aware college students in rural areas nearby chennai are about cyber crimes and what experiences they have had and how they respond and what makes them more likely to be victims. The study got information from 200 college students by asking them questions in offline survey method. The study found out is that even though students use the internet and other digital platforms all the time they do not know much about how to stay safe. Most students are between 18 and 23 years old and use the internet a lot on their smartphones. A lot of them 81.5% know about cybercrime. They do not know much about the laws or how to report problems. More than half, 54.5% have had problems like someone misusing their profile being bullied online or being cheated out of money. Most students just block the person who did it or ignore it. It also finds out that having these problems causes a lot of stress and fear. We need to help students, in rural areas learn more and feel safe online. The study says that we need to teach students more about how to use the internet and have programs to make them aware of cyber crimes so they can be safe when they are online. Cyber victimization is a problem and we need to do something about it to reduce cyber risks and promote safe online behavior, among college students and help them avoid cyber victimization.
