ABSTRACT: The Indian labour market is undergoing a major transformation with the growth of gig work and artificial intelligence (AI)-based employment. Women are increasingly participating in these new forms of work. However, issues such as job insecurity, lack of social protection, and gender bias continue to affect them. This research paper is based on a quantitative study of 70 women workers engaged in gig work, AI-based work, or both. The study examines their income levels, job security, working hours, access to social security, and awareness of labour rights. The findings show that while AI-based work provides better income and job security, gig workers face more challenges. Gender bias is still widely experienced, especially in gig work. The paper concludes that strong legal and policy measures are needed to ensure equality and protection for women in the future labor market. KEYWORDS: Gig workers. Digital labor.
