Access to safe and clean drinking water remains a significant challenge in many rural and remote areas, as well as during emergency situations. The fabrication of a portable water purifier aims to provide an efficient, low-cost, and easy-to-use solution for point-of-use water treatment. This project focuses on designing and developing a compact purification system that can effectively remove physical, chemical, and biological contaminants from water.
The purifier typically incorporates multiple filtration stages such as sediment filtration, activated carbon filtration, and disinfection methods like ultraviolet (UV) treatment or chemical purification. The design emphasizes portability, lightweight construction, and ease of maintenance, making it suitable for outdoor activities, disaster relief operations, and daily use in areas lacking access to centralized water treatment systems.
The fabricated system is tested for parameters such as turbidity, pH level, and microbial content to evaluate its performance. Results indicate that the portable purifier significantly improves water quality and makes it safe for drinking. This project demonstrates a practical and sustainable approach to addressing water purification challenges and highlights the importance of affordable technology in improving public health.
