Cosmetics are substances used for cleansing, beautifying, and enhancing the appearance of the
human body. Among various cosmetic preparations, herbal cosmetics have gained significant
importance due to their natural origin, safety, and minimal side effects. The present study focuses
on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal shaving cream using natural and chemical
ingredients such as stearic acid, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, aloe vera,
neem, tulsi, glycerine, water, and perfume.
The shaving cream was prepared by a saponification process followed by the incorporation of
herbal extracts and other additives to obtain a smooth, stable, and effective formulation. The
prepared cream showed desirable properties such as good consistency, smooth texture, pleasant
fragrance, easy application, and satisfactory foaming ability.
The product was tested by several users and was found to be non-irritating, easy to wash off,
and effective in providing a smooth shaving experience without the need for aftershave
products. The use of herbal ingredients like aloe vera, neem, and tulsi enhances its
antimicrobial, soothing, and skin-protective properties.
Thus, the formulated herbal shaving cream can be considered safe, economical, and effective,
making it a promising alternative to synthetic shaving products with potential for commercial
application.
