The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anti-oxidant and anti-angiogenic potential of the ethanolic root extract of Artocarpus heterophyllus. Preliminary screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenolics, glycosides and terpenoids which are known for their biological activities. Anti-oxidant activity was assessed using nitric oxide scavenging assay and reducing power assay, showing concentration-dependent activity, although comparatively lower than the standard ascorbic acid. Anti-angiogenic activity was evaluated using the Chorioallantoic Membrane (CAM) assay, where the extract exhibited significant inhibition of blood vessel formation. These findings suggest that the root extract possesses promising anti-oxidant and anti-angiogenic properties which may be beneficial in managing diseases associated with oxidative stress and abnormal angiogenesis such as cancer and inflammatory disorders.
